An Award Winning Derbyshire Country House Wedding Venue
Shottle Hall is a historic country house wedding venue located in Derbyshire, England. It is renowned for its picturesque setting amidst the rolling hills of the Peak District National Park. The hall itself dates back to the 18th century and boasts stunning architecture typical of the period.
Originally built in 1700, Shottle Hall has undergone various renovations and expansions over the years, but it still retains much of its original charm and character. The hall is surrounded by beautiful gardens and grounds, making it a popular venue for weddings, special events, and corporate gatherings.
In addition to its scenic beauty, Shottle Hall offers luxurious accommodations and fine dining options for guests. The interior of the hall is elegantly appointed with antique furnishings and period decor, creating a timeless atmosphere that transports visitors back in time.
Shottle Hall is not only a historic landmark but also a beloved destination for those seeking a taste of English country living amidst stunning natural scenery. All of which makes it a wonderful venue for hosting weddings.

Wedding Ceremonies at Shottle Hall
At Shottle Hall, there are several locations where you can host your ceremony, each offering its own unique ambiance and setting. Over the years I have probably photographed wedding ceremonies in all of them.
- The Orangery: The Orangery is a popular choice for ceremonies at Shottle Hall. It features large windows that allow natural light to flood the space, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. The Orangery overlooks the picturesque gardens, providing a beautiful backdrop for your ceremony.
- The Coach House Marquee: If you’re looking for an outdoor ceremony location with a touch of elegance, the Coach House Marquee might be the perfect choice. This semi-permanent marquee is set amidst the hall’s landscaped gardens and offers a romantic setting for exchanging vows.
- The Drawing Room: For a more intimate ceremony, the Drawing Room inside Shottle Hall itself can provide a cozy and elegant setting. With its period decor and antique furnishings, the Drawing Room exudes old-world charm and sophistication.
- The Garden Pavilion: Another outdoor option is the Garden Pavilion, located within the hall’s manicured gardens. This open-air structure offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, making it a picturesque setting for an outdoor ceremony.
Each of these locations at Shottle Hall offers its own unique charm and can be tailored to suit your preferences and style for your special day. Additionally, the staff at Shottle Hall are typically experienced in coordinating ceremonies and can assist you in planning and executing your dream wedding or event.
The Grounds At Shottle Hall
Being a grand country estate – Shottle Hall has loads of great locations for couple portraits. It has courtyards and gardens, 14 acres of land, a garden pavillion (pictured) and just round the front of the house isn’t too shabby either.
All in all, all the locations needed for confetti, sparklers, group portraits and celebrations.
Shottle Hall really is a venue for all seasons, and I have photographed weddings adorned with pumpkins and christmas decorations, as well as through the summer season.
