Documentary Wedding Photographer Nottingham

Documentary & Reportage Photography for Nottinghamshire Weddings

I rarely come across people who enjoy having their photographs taken.

Which is why we’ll do things a little differently.

Imagine not needing to worry about the overdone and unremarkable photo rituals. No forced smiles, aching cheeks, or awkward ‘what do I do with my hands?’ moments.

Imagine not being pulled away by your wedding photographer from the people you really want to spend the day with. And instead, being part of all those adrenaline-fuelled and love-buoyed interactions that are truly worth remembering.

Instead of trying to orchestrate a feeling of wedding serenity and calm just for the photos, imagine choosing to embrace the nerves, the build-up, the tension in the room, the chaos, the double-chin laughter, the ugly cry, and the toddler who won’t stand still and smile.

Your wedding day will be a riotous, rousing, and rollicking affair – shall we tell it like it is?

Let’s get the picture-perfect moments and the almost unnoticed bits in between. With award winning documentary wedding photography.

All the photos, none of the photofaff.

Also on the big day, I like to steal you away for a few minutes to get some nice photos of the two of you together (usually in that chilled post-meal golden sunset period wherever possible).

This is usually just a chance to step out of the chaos of the day for a few minutes and spend some quiet time together before I whisk you back into the chaos (because that's where all the real stuff is happening)

Can you spare a couple of minutes for a documentary wedding slideshow?

Simon is an artist, each picture so beautifully composed, and he managed to capture all the moments and details that we missed as bride and groom.

It is a joy to look at the pictures, remembering our day, but also seeing it as our guests experienced it. These pictures make everyone so happy.

Wedding Photography for Unconventional & Authentic Couples

If you’ve been researching wedding photographers for your wedding and realising that nothing you’re seeing feels quite like ‘you,’ then you’re in good hands here.

Because you know, you don’t have to have traditional wedding photography.

You don’t have to pose for portraits or stage individual moments of fun. You’ve seen the bridesmaids holding up the groom, right? And the groomsmen striding toward the camera with stiff arms and awkward smiles?

Those don’t need to be your photos.

You can have unfiltered, candid photography that focuses on documenting the essence of actually being there. So when you look back over your photos in years to come, you can vividly recall how each of your senses reacted at the time.

You can choose to have wedding photography that truly echoes your personalities and those of your nearest and dearest.

There’s so much to document.

The subtle looks, the nervous glance at the clock, the casual arm thrown round a shoulder, the informality amongst old friends, the shouting of ‘you getting the shots in, Dave?’ across the table, the finding of common ground between strangers, the tired toddler with cake in their hair, the abandoned shoes and head-thrown-back laughter.

If this does sound like the photos you want, please get in touch and ask about your date.

Given our budget, we were reluctant to spend on a photographer, but we also knew we would regret it if we didn’t have a good set of photos. We wanted natural photos, not posed stiff ones, and Simon’s portfolio looked beautifully quirky.
I can’t tell you how glad we are that we chose him. He was worth every penny and more. Neither of us expected such an array of beautiful photos, it’s impossible to choose our favourites, there are just so many!
Not only has he captured every moment, he’s captured every feeling. Every time I look at our photos I smile. They are perfect

This is me (I hate having my photo taken too) And I’ve been photographing weddings in an authentic documentary style all around Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands for well over a decade.

I’m also into music, cinema and street photography and  can often be found playing guitar or tinkering with vintage cameras and instruments.
