Wedding Photography @ The Malthouse, Rishworth

“The pictures arrived and what can I say, the amount of happy tears I shed looking through each one, the more I looked the more I spotted, the attention to detail Simon has is absolutely out of this world.

They are beyond beautiful, real and so full of love and care.

They are beyond anything we could have dreamed of.

Simon is without a doubt a master at his craft. I will never ever be able to thank you a Simon for what you managed to capture on our special day. The memories you have given us are so incredibly special and will last a life time.

The best booking we made, Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou!!!”

Caris & Josh say “I do”

It was lovely to capture this relaxed wedding day at the Malthouse in West Yorkshire. I think Caris has done such a good job of describing it – so I’m going to hand this one straight over!

How did you meet; what attracted you to one another?

How everyone meets these days! Tinder! We connected straight away, we would talk for hours on the phone, see each other as much as possible and never really wanted to be apart. Humour played a large part in it but is also helps that Josh sounds like a southern Barry white.

It sounds ridiculous but it really was love at first sight, as soon as we met we never wanted to be apart.

Who proposed? How, when, where?
Josh proposed to me. He had originally planned to take me to Robins Hoods bay to do it on the beach (which is odd considering we’ve never been?!….still?!) I however at 6 months pregnant refused to go as I was shattered, it was winter and I didn’t fancy plodding around after a long week at work so I spoilt the original plan. I woke up the morning we were meant to be going to rose petals all over the floor that lead into the kitchen, I opened the kitchen door stood there with my big pregnant belly out, jogger bottoms underneath my bump, maternity bra on with unbrushed hair on top of my head and unbrushed teeth to Josh all dressed up, down on one knee, candles lit, flowers everywhere and he asked me to marry him there and then! The first thing I said was ‘oh my god. I haven’t even brushed my teeth!!!’ And then of course I said yes!

That evening he has hired a private dining room and planned a whole meal for just us two. It was perfect!

What attracted you to The Malthouse?
How relaxed and cosy it felt and the outdoor space! Also the food!! We really wanted everyone to feel like they were at there local pub but dressed abit fancy and eating proper food and surrounded by everyone they love.

Give details about the decorative touches you included in the day; how did they reflect your
theme/colour scheme?

All I knew is I wanted colour! I wanted colourful flowers, colourful bridemaids dresses and for it to be relaxed, wild and fun.

What did you wear – why did you choose that particular style?
I wore a wedding dress that was ivory, simple, classic and fitted. I wanted my dress to be timeless so it could be worn again in another 50 years and still be stunningly classic and elegant.

Josh wore an outfit that was specifically made for him from Spencer trousers. Josh struggles to find clothes that fit across his back and chest and we wanted him to feel comfortable and also support a local business in Halifax. He went a chose the fabric himself, the lining and they measured him up and it was ready in 2 weeks!

How did you accessorise it?
With a massive bow, an over skirt, a veil with pearls and a red lip. Again…timeless!

Josh got his initials on the cup of his shirt J.M. Which was a really nice touch and can be seen in a lot of the pictures.

What did the bridesmaids wear?
Different coloured silk dresses, I let my bridesmaids pic their own dresses and own colours. I wanted them to feel happy in what they were wearing.

How did you entertain your guests?
We had live music on throughout the whole day, an acoustic set on throughout the day, band in the evening and then a DJ. I knew my guests wouldn’t need much entertaining and we just love being around each other and easily create our own entertainment but music was a really important factor to us.

How did you both feel on the day? What parts stood out for you the most?
Overwhelmed! It was beautiful, it wasn’t a big wedding but it was ALOT to take in. Our ceremony stood out the most as it was really bloody funny! I don’t think I’ve ever known a bride and groom laugh throughout there whole ceremony and with there guests too.

Your top wedding planning/on-the-day tip?
Keep it simple! You do not need to live upto the instagram hype of everything you see online. You don’t NEED any of it. What was important to us was stunning food, incredible photography (which we absolutely got!) and fantastic music and that’s what we made sure we had. Anything else was an added bonus.
