INVESTMENT

To ensure every story gets my undivided focus, I only take on 25 weddings a year. Most couples invest between £1,750 and £3,000 for their documentary coverage and albums.

Availability is unpredictable – some months book up a year or two in advance, and if my approach aligns with your vision I’d encourage you to get in touch sooner rather than later.

This is also the point where I remind you that after the cake is eaten, after the flowers have wilted away everything is transitory – apart from great art, literature, music and photography.

FAQ

Style & Approach

What is your photography style?

I’m a documentary and photojournalist-style wedding photographer. I work by observing and capturing what’s genuinely happening, rather than directing or staging shots. Inspired by street photography and cinema, my aim is honest, creative imagery that takes you straight back to the atmosphere and emotion of your day.

Do we need to pose?

Not if you don’t want to. Some couples do want portraits — and I’m happy to do them — but my default is to stay in the background and let the day unfold naturally. If we do grab some couple shots, I’ll usually suggest stepping away briefly during golden hour for something relaxed, unscripted and brief.

Speaking of brief, I have an article here about portraits.

Do you do group shots?

Yes — about half of my couples request them. To keep things quick and undisruptive, I ask you to choose a maximum of 10 combinations in advance, and it really helps to have someone loud and organised on hand to wrangle people together!

Booking & Availability

How many weddings do you take on per year?

I limit my diary to a maximum of 25 weddings per year, so every couple gets my full creative energy and a truly personal experience. It also means dates book up quickly — it’s worth getting in touch early.

How do I secure my date?

Once we’ve had a chat and you’re happy with my approach, I’ll send over a booking form and contract and ask for a 20% deposit to hold your date. From there you’ll have my full support right up to the big day.

Do you travel outside of Derbyshire?

Yes — I shoot commissions across the UK. While I’m based in Derby and cover the East Midlands regularly, I’m just as comfortable working further afield. Get in touch and let me know where you’re getting married.

On the Day

Do you cover the morning bridal/groom prep?

Yes — the morning is one of my favourite parts of the day. Emotions run high, personalities come through, and it’s a great way for everyone to get comfortable with the camera before the ceremony. If everyone is getting ready at the venue, even better!

Can you work in low light or unusual venues?

Yes. My documentary background means I adapt to whatever conditions a venue throws at me — from dark cinema venues and ancient Anglo-Saxon chapels to candlelit barns and everything in between. I work with the light and atmosphere of your space rather than against it.

Photos, Albums & Deliverables

Do you offer wedding albums?

Yes. I use Folio Albums — beautifully crafted, locally and sustainably made books. All albums include 30 pages (15 spreads), printed on Art White Paper with cover printing, debossing or embossing. There are several fabric cover colours and designs to choose from. Coffee table books are also available at £350.

Is there a pre-wedding consultation?

Yes — I include a pre-wedding get-together with every booking (in person or on Zoom if you’re further away). It’s a chance for us to get to know each other, talk through your plans, and make sure everything is in place for the day. You can ask me anything, anytime in the run-up too.

Do you offer engagement or proposal shoots?

Yes. I offer engagement and proposal photography sessions across Derbyshire and the Peak District — popular locations include Curbar Edge, the Dovedale stepping stones, and the Monsal Trail. Availability is limited, so it’s worth getting in touch early.
