Rustic Wedding Photography – Michaela & Stuart

Michaela & Stuart FB-001
Wedding: Chatham Town Hall
Reception: Dutchlands Farm, Great Missenden

I’m going to do things a bit upside down this week, and kick off with this wonderful message I received the other day.

“Simon Simon Simon. WE LOVE YOU. Our photos are beautiful. Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou so so much- you really captured some of the best moments and I am truly grateful!!! I feel sad that we barely spoke to you but now I see why you stay in the background, its just to capture everything and everyone. My mum cried looking at them, I cried, Grandma probably will cry! You did so well and the band pictures are awesome. They are all AWESOME. Can’t wait to get them all printed.. Just dont know which ones to frame they are all so good!!! Thankyou for not making us pose for pictures- you caught everyone (and us truly unphotogenic idiots) naturally and its all gorgeous. Dont know how many more describing words I can put in so I’ll leave it there… and Thankyou again!!!!

Love from

Michaela and Stuart xx”

And now, lets talk about this fantastically heartfelt and rustic wedding.

Michaela & I have children who were born within a few days of each other. We met through my wife, who had met her through Facebook. I think she had seen a lot of my family photography, and then some wedding photography and booked me to shoot her wedding. When we met, she was clear that she didn’t want any posed shots on the day – so it gave me a licence to work as a documentary photographer and capture the day in my own style.

The location is just stunning – Stuart’s dad is a retired dairy farmer, so they put up a marquee on his land in Great Missenden, rolled out some tractors and toys and had a great homemade party – in fact, that was exactly what the day was – a huge informal party. Which of course, makes for great photos.

Michaela and Stuart are such a sweet and down to earth couple.  There was a lot of drinking, and everyone rocked the night away to the band –  NBS.  I’m really bad at writing about these things, so I’m going to let the photos do the talking;
