Wedding & Reception – Meynell Langley Hall Derbyshire
This has been an interesting journey to say the least – I was recommended to Duncan & Sarah by Michael Rowlands, who runs a portrait studio in the centre of Derby – they were old friends of his and they liked my work and we arranged to meet. When we met I noticed a bag for Ravensdale school on the floor, so being the master of rapport that I am (I think everyone can attest to my dry sense of humour, actually) I bought it into the conversation, only to find out that their Phoebe was in the same class as my son.
So we have seen a lot of each other since then – which I think has actually added to the photos.
But, some quick factoids….
1)They spent their honeymoon sailing and doing crazy things like canyoning, jumping off very high things and cycling some crazy, suicidal, almost vertical cycle paths (drops?). I’m surprised they came home in one piece. They’re crazy like that
2) They’re crazy about cycling, as are most of Sarah’s family… who are also from Yorkshire. Somehow they managed to book Meynell Langley the same weekend as the Tour De Yorkshire – a major event in the cycling calendar.
3) It rained pretty much all day – but it really didn’t bother anyone, and they partied like troopers.
4) They treated us to a proper first dance and it rocked. Strictly Ballroom Style.
Meynell Langley Hall is a hidden gem of a wedding venue just outside Derby (between Kirk Langley and Kedleston Hall). I mean, just look at the light in the ceremony – and the view from the front of the building is just stunning.
